Planting Seeds the Homa way
Treating the Seeds for planting
Seed Selection
To begin a garden one may select about 10 crops that grow well in the locality and can be managed easily. After designing a garden according to an organic, preferably raised bed, intensive method, the appropriate amount of seed may be purchased. Seeds should be organic where possible and non-hybrids, if one wishes to harvest seed for future plantings.
Soil Preparation
Before seed preparation prepare the soil for seedling trays or if directly sowing in the garden bed prepare that soil a day or two before planting.
When starting out a new garden it is advisable to have the soil tested for mineral deficiencies and ph level. This can then be corrected if required with organic mineral fertilizers. When applying these also incorporate Agnihotra ash in the soil at the same time. Thereafter the soil in the garden beds can be renewed with Biosol fertilizing mixture, Vermi- compost and Agnihotra ash. If planting in trays, basic organic seedling mix can have the extra addition of Agnihotra ash.
Homa Method of Seed Treatment
Use non hybrid organic seeds which have not been treated with chemicals. Place the seeds for planting in the Resonance Hut on the Eastern side of the Agnihotra pyramid for a 24 hour cycle that includes evening Agnihotra followed by sunrise Agnihotra. If you do not have a Homa Resonance system, expose the seeds to 2 Agnihotras over a 24 hour period starting with sunset Agnihotra.
Treating seeds by the following method can make them more disease and pest resistant and give them an initial boost.
For backyard plantings/ small gardens:
1. Place the seeds in cups or jars and label each container with the name of the seed.
2. Cover seeds with cow's urine mixed with a little Agnihotra ash (you may obtain from a local dairy farm but preferably from organically treated cows) and soak the seeds for one to two hours depending on the size of the seed. Larger seeds like beans need 2 hrs, smaller seeds like lettuce, 1 hr is sufficient while hard seeds may need 2 hours. Make sure that seeds mix well with the urine and none are floating on top. The easiest time to collect cow urine is during milking when the cow is confined. One can massage just under the urethra and if there is a full bladder the cow will likely lift its tail and release the urine into your strategically held bucket. Cow urine can be utilized for making Homa Biosol, compost, liquid fertilizer and to produce a spray that is anti-fungal.
3. Drain the seeds and cover them in moist cow dung. Seeds can be mixed with enough dung to coat them thoroughly. The dung and seed mixture can then be spread out to semi-dry on plates, screens or boards. As some seeds cannot survive complete dehydration after having been moistened, it is advisable that the seed/dung mixture be dried until just damp dry. The mixture can then be crumbled easily and sown down a planting row in the garden or in planting pots or flats. If you are planting a small amount of seeds and if the seeds are not too small, each seed can be wrapped in an individual bit of cow dung.
For larger applications / broad acre farming:
Treat seeds as mentioned above, however cow urine could be diluted 1:10 and add Agnihotra ash. After soaking, if the seed is broadcasted by hand for small acreage, they can be sown into the soil immediately and then covered with soil. If planting seed with a seed drill, let the seed dry and when dry mix with Agnihotra ash. When using the seed in the seed drill, the seed should be reasonably firm, otherwise damage would occur to the seed.
Generally cowdung coating is not applied when using a seed drill.
If soaking of cow urine has adverse effect on the seed by making it too soft, one could delete cow urine soaking and simply mix Agnihotra ash with the unsoaked seeds before placing in the seed drill.
NB When planting with the Homa Therapy farming method the requirement is that Agnihotra is performed daily on the farm. This supports the planting and seeding energetically. Agnihotra ash could also be incorporated in the soil if one cultivates the soil. For small scale and broad acre planting it is ideal that Om Tryambakam Homa is performed during cultivation and planting at some place near the field. Once the seeds have taken and start to show it is advisable to spray the young crop with Gloria Homa Biosol at a diluted ratio of 1:25.
Planting the Seeds
In temperate climatic zones one needs to start seeds indoors before the last frost date, plant intensively in the beds and plan for a fall crop. When first starting a garden, it is helpful for future yields if green leafy vegetables are planted in initial stages. This will enable one to grow anything suitable to the climate later on.
Alfalfa (Lucerne grass) can be grown on most farms. It puts something special in the atmosphere, something more when grown by HOMA Organic Farming methods. Also try to set aside part of the planting area for soya beans if possible, as these also contain special healing and nutritional properties when grown with Homa methods.
Phases of the moon by which we plant have a great deal to do with the success of HOMA gardening. Plant on a no moon day or full moon day, depending on the type of seed planted. Try planting root crops on or before the new moon and above ground crops on or before a full moon day. On full and No moon in particular, when 24 hour ongoing Om Tryambakam Homa is performed, the atmosphere is saturated with the resultant Ghee particles carrying micro-nutrients and the high vibrations of Sanskrit mantra to the garden. This is an optimum time for planting.
When you plant the seeds, try to be full of love, do Mantra, and be clean in body and mind.
Plant the seeds with Agnihotra ash. It can be sprinkled along with the seeds down each row. As you water the newly planted seeds, Mantra should be done while pouring Agnihotra ash water over your right hand.
Transplanting seedlings
When transplanting seedlings to the garden, be sure to plant them with Agnihotra ash around the roots. Planting or transplanting should never be done in the heat of the day. The best time for transplanting is at the end of the day.
It is ideal to have someone performing Om Tryambakam Homa in the garden while the planting is going on.
