Planting Seeds the Homa way

Treating the Seeds for planting
Seed Selection
To begin a garden one may select about 10 crops that grow well in the locality and can be managed easily. After designing a garden according to an organic, preferably raised bed, intensive method, the appropriate amount of seed may be purchased. Seeds should be organic where possible and non-hybrids, if one wishes to harvest seed for future plantings.
Soil Preparation

Before seed preparation prepare the soil for seedling trays or if directly sowing in the garden bed prepare that soil a day or two before planting.

When starting out a new garden it is advisable to have the soil tested for mineral deficiencies and ph level. This can then be corrected if required with organic mineral fertilizers. When applying these also incorporate Agnihotra ash in the soil at the same time. Thereafter the soil in the garden beds can be renewed with Biosol fertilizing mixture, Vermi- compost and Agnihotra ash. If planting in trays, basic organic seedling mix can have the extra addition of Agnihotra ash.

Homa Method of Seed Treatment
Use non hybrid organic seeds which have not been treated with chemicals. Place the seeds for planting in the Resonance Hut on the Eastern side of the Agnihotra pyramid for a 24 hour cycle that includes evening Agnihotra followed by sunrise Agnihotra. If you do not have a Homa Resonance system, expose the seeds to 2 Agnihotras over a 24 hour period starting with sunset Agnihotra.

The need to create Homa Seed Banks
Natural diversity of food crops is necessary so that there are always adaptable seeds for changing conditions on a local scale. Now on a global scale, with the dramatic and erratic climatic conditions and pollution, it is even more crucial that we have a diverse gene pool of traditional food varieties. Diversity means more likelihood that we find disease and pest resistant varieties and adaptable varieties that withstand changeable and harsh conditions.

The variety of food crops has diminished by 75% over the last century.

Menstruation

MENSTRUATION
by Lisa Powers, Lee Ringma, Parvati Rosen-Bizberg, Manu Szczypior, Karin Heschl

Women have been asked not to perform Agnihotra during their menstrual period, and some observe several other related disciplines. Many people have questioned these practices.
Today's living conditions make it easy for women to deal with the physical aspect of menstruation. But is there something more to menstruation that still needs to be addressed?
Virtually every ancient culture had some customs regarding menstruation. In these traditions the woman observed some degree of seclusion during her period. She was temporarily excused from her routine responsibilities and was expected to rest. In many parts of the world, particularly in less industrialized countries, these practices continue to some extent today. Were these customs rooted in primitive superstition and ignorance? Did they arise from mere lack of sanitation? Or do they stem from timeless wisdom that still applies today?
